Deploying the Velocity on-premises management server image on a virtual machine

Velocity Help

Before you deploy the Velocity on-premises management server image on a virtual machine, ensure the following:

  • You have reviewed the management server installation requirements and set up your vSphere host as per the requirements. Use this vSphere host to deploy and configure the management server.

For installation requirements, see the Velocity Software Compatibility List at the following URL:

    https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000125365

  • You have copied the Velocity Management Server OVA, which Veritas has provided to you, to your computer. This OVA is a virtual server with the Velocity software installed.

  • You have a VMware vSphere Client application installed, or you have another suitable method of deploying a virtual machine from an OVA.

To deploy the Velocity on-premises management server image on a virtual machine by using the VMware vSphere Client

  1. Log in to the VMware vShpere Client application.

  2. After connecting to the vCenter Server or the ESX Server, click File > Deploy OVF Template.

  3. On the Source dialog, browse to the location where you copied the OVA, select the OVA, click Open, and then click Next.

  4. On the OVA Template Details dialog, click Next.

  5. Click Accept to accept the end user license agreement, and then click Next.

  6. On the Name and Location dialog, provide a name for the Velocity management server, and then click Next.

  7. On the Storage dialog, select the destination storage that you want to use to store the Velocity management server virtual machine disk, and then click Next.

  8. On the Disk Format dialog, choose the format that you want to use to store the virtual machine disks.

For best performance, Veritas recommends the format Thick Provision Eager Zeroed.

  9. On the Ready to Complete dialog, review the deployment settings that you have specified. If you want to edit any of the settings, click Back.

  10. Click Finish.

  11. Power on the virtual machine.

Next, configure the network settings for the Velocity management server.
