Configuring Active Directory/LDAP settings on the Velocity on-premises management server

For the Velocity on-premises management server, you must configure Active Directory/LDAP settings on the management server.

Before you configure Active Directory/LDAP settings on the management server, prepare to provide the following information:

  • Active Directory user name for the Velocity administrator account

  • The name of the domain that the Active Directory/LDAP runs on

  • The URL for the Active Directory/LDAP domain controller

  • Network port that the Active Directory search uses

  • Search base from which to search in the Active Directory structure for user account entries

  • Name of the email domain

  • The tenant short name

To configure Active Directory/LDAP settings on the Velocity on-premises management server

  1. Log on to the Velocity shell menu.

  2. Go to the Main_Menu > Manage > IdM > Active Directory/LDAP view.

  3. Do either of the following:

    To view the current Active Directory/LDAP configuration

    Type the following command:

    Show

    To configure the current Active Directory/LDAP configuration

    Type the following command:

    Configure

  4. Type the new values with which you want to configure the services:

  5. When you are prompted to update the Active Directory/LDAP configuration with the new values, type yes.

    The configuration is stored.

  6. Go to Main_Menu > Support > Maintenance view, and then enter the maintenance password.

  7. After you have accessed the Maintenance user shell, type the following command to log into the root shell:

    elevate

  8. Type the following command:

    service private-cloud restart

  9. When the restart is complete, type Exit.

  10. Ensure that the following Active Directory properties are set for any user account that needs access to the Velocity Console through the management server:

    You can now register the Velocity Storage Server.
